Lies give our lives meaning

The telemarketers are driving me insane. Thirty five to forty five calls a day. Today I was insulted by one. I got by the robot to a so called representative or supervisor. It was a female with a foreign accent trying to get me interested in final expense insurance. I told her I had enough money to pay burial expenses for me, my wife, my dog, my daughter and son-in-law, son and his wife, their ranch animals and my closest friends and their spouses.

In this 1936 photograph from Hamburg, Germany, a man believed to be August Landmesser refuses to take part in the Nazi salute while a crowd cheers and salutes Adolph Hitler at a naval shipyard.

She would not give up, so I asked her if she had ever had sex with a combat veteran. Without hesitation, she told me to go f—k my Mother or Daughter. So rude. She hung up on me. Should I write a letter to Ann Landers or Bernie Sanders?

Seriously my friends, I am paying $25 a month to two companies that promise to reduce the calls.

I quit drinking alcohol two years ago, but these days I am tempted to return to the land of morning calm.
